Kerala has reported a sharp rise in infections caused by a rare, water-borne organism known as the 'brain-eating amoeba,' with 72 confirmed cases and 19 deaths so far this year. This marks a significant increase from 2024, when the state recorded 36 infections and nine fatalities.
