Indians, along with other South Asians, tend to develop Type 2 diabetes at a younger average age and lower body mass index than the white population, as per a study that has been published in the BMJ. Experts point out that diabetes often begins at a lower body weight, progresses rapidly, and leads to more complications (kidney disease, heart attacks).
