Brain-Eating Amoeba Kills 19 In Kerala: Kerala is facing a deadly outbreak of Naegleria fowleri, better known as the ‘brain-eating amoeba’, with 19 deaths reported this year. The infection, called Primary Amoebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM), spreads through contaminated warm freshwater and progresses rapidly with fatal consequences. Health experts stress that early detection, prevention, and awareness are the only shields against this rare but deadly disease.
