Ultra-processed foods like sodas, snacks, and processed meats make up nearly 60% of adult diets in the U.S.—but new research shows they may silently fuel inflammation in the body. A study by Florida Atlantic University found that people who consume the most UPFs have significantly higher levels of hs-CRP, a strong predictor of cardiovascular disease. Experts warn that much like tobacco, UPFs could become the next major public health crisis if awareness and action don’t follow soon.
